I used to hand write my own bullet journal but it was so tedious that I found myself often falling behind and I searched through the stores for something that would fit my needs (I wanted a tracker and monthly spreads as well as weekly ones) but all of the premade ones were too basic and all the fun ones took way too much work to build. Then I found the Holy Grail of all planners. This is like a bullet journal, a tracker, a coloring book, a wildlife book, and a scheduler all in one! It has everything I need and then some! The quality and size of the journal is a huge plus as well. Tons of beautifully detailed pages (props to the amazing talented artist!) And plenty of helpful spaces and prompts to help organize your life as well as remind you to take in the beauty all around you. I recommend this for all the nature enthusiasts, art lovers, and planner geeks out there. I bought a copy for myself and adored it so much that I bought a copy for all my friends for the holidays. :)
A thoughtful journal, filled with ideas and insightful direction to document and capture the beauty of the natural world around us. I love riding my bike on trails at a nearby lake, and I'm sure there's plenty of wonder around me taken for granted as I zip by. A journal like this, with its guided format, prompts the reader to be more aware and gratefully vigilant. This journal will make my future rides a bit more meaningful and appreciative, rather than just a series of miles I get to log!Thematically, the journal reminds me a bit of the Almanacs I poured through as a kid. Moon phases, simple living and predictions for the upcoming seasons, all left me with an appreciation for the mysterious individuals who compiled the yearly tome. The Nature Observer journal puts me in that fun role, observing the year's natural events for me to reflect on years from now.The visual style of the journal is fantastic. I'm a huge fan of scientific illustrations and line art, and this book provides eye-opening amounts of delicately, immersive botanical drawings that comfortably share space with the occasional squirrel, ladybug and even the Perseus constellation. Paging through this journal, ultimately, leaves me feeling both serene and filled with anticipation.I haven't recorded anything yet (just received yesterday), but the gentle prompts to write down "Changes in my neighborhood that only happen in the winter", make me look forward to the season's first frost, and the subsequent neighborhood night-walks I'll take, flashlight in hand.
I really love this journal and would consider buying it again as a gift for someone. I like that it is undated so that I can write in the dates in during the year. There is a space for monthly tracking, weekly layouts and a layout between each weekly layout that encourages activities in nature. The nature activity ideas are actually fun and practical (for example: visiting and sketching the nearest body of water, going on a scavenger hunt to find different colored natural items, and many more). I used to like to draw out all my own spreads in my bullet journal but this is a nice break from that for now. Another very nice feature is being able to color in the beautiful nature drawings on the different pages; each month even has a sort of cohesive theme for the nature art on the pages based on the season.
Actually know the author's mother so was made aware of this delightful book. A journal with beautiful illustrations without color. Why do I mention this, because immediately you recognize an added dimension to the creative act of writing. I bought two books expecting to present one to a poet/writer friend and the other as gift when needed. Instead, I took both to a pre-wedding celebration for my grandson at an outdoor school where he mentors. A teacher who has been with the school for years and mentors the high school age examined the book and realized it was just what she needed to encourage writing in the field. Since the school's instruction is outdoors, once you see the book, you will agree. So, I gave Susan the books and sent ten more through my grandson. She mentioned buying more. I will follow up at the end of the school year to see how it went, but at the present time, as a senior, I went for writing, coloring and doodling. A door has opened.
This journal is the most beautiful journal I’ve ever owned. I will be buying more as gifts for the holidays. I can’t wait till January to start using this journal. Huge fan.
They seem odd at first. My daughter said she would probably not use hers. But once we all started putting it to use it is perfect. The organization seems awkward but there are grid lines than make it easy to use. You can find uses for pages that seem like unnecessary extras. I am really enjoying this journal as are my two daughters.
If you love amazing drawings, nature, and a good sturdy book, thi is for you! I dont mean to sound like an infomercial but oh my gosh this is so gorgeous! It is hardcover, it goes from january to feburary and you can buy this anytime because it doesnt give the year in it. Al in all you get an amazing book for the price you pay and you will love this if you like nature while still keeping up with your dates.
Well made, beautiful journal that I bought to get started on some basic bullet journaling. Contains monthly layout, habit tracker, and weeklies alternating with “natural activity†suggestion pages. I ignore the “nature†suggestions (sorry Maggie!) and just use the pages in between the weeklies for notes, thoughts, and sketches. A joy to look at and a fun adult coloring book too! Makes me excited about staying on task. Would love A5 and A6 versions with a similar art style! Happy to support a Chicago artist by purchasing this book.
