I purchased this book, but returned it. I have owned a Kamado Joe Classic for nearly 5 years and did a lot of shopping around comparing locally available brands, Kamado Joe, BGE, and Primo.I don’t think the author owns a Kamado style grill. Too many things said by the author make no sense. The author states that Kamado firebox walls are six inches thick and the grill walls are four inches thick. The author also states that to light the Kamado, one needs to use wads of newspaper, kindling, followed by briquets. Light it up, then in a few minutes, start waiving a piece of cardboard to start a draft. Maybe some Kamado grills operate this way; I just haven’t found that particular model.The author says that when lighting your Kamado, the first thing you should is get the coals “way” hotter than needed, then cool them down by closing the vents.In Chapter 4, the author says that because of the smaller size, they are easy to move around in the kitchen.The book has many typos and formatting inconsistencies that should have been caught.

This book is a total JOKE! There is no publisher, no copywrite, many words mispelled. He talks about using briquettes instead of lump charcoal. You should always use lump charcoal on a kamado. Instructions on lighting the fire is totally wrong and hilarious. I had a good laugh reading this until I realized I paid for this book, but I'll be sending it back. I don't know how this received a 4-star rating unless it's from friends and family. There are quality books on using the kamado, however this is not one of them. It's not worth the paper it's written on.

This is an incredible device - it is truly amazing the way it maintains a temperature for 10 hours (most I've tried so far). A pulled pork was delicious and a brisket was perhaps the best i've ever had. Be patient, following instructions (get a couple of other Kamado/Green Egg cookbooks - mix and match recipes) and you can't go wrong. Hamburgers, steaks, chicken ... all have been superb.And, I think it's better than the Green Egg - I've compared notes with my son who has one of 'those' and the biggest plus is that the lid stays put wherever you leave while working under it, and the gasket is the best there is. The ash drawer is a nice little feature, but doesn't make a real difference over all as you still have to scrape out more ash.Having bought this from Amazon, including free delivery and set-up was an extra boon. I could not have lifted the egg into the stand myself. The stand that comes with it, by the way, is more than serviceable and is very sturdy - the wheels work and can be locked.I love the Kamado Joe.

I really like this cookbook because of the healthy recipes made from scratch. I have recently purchased other recipe books that claimed to be healthy, yet they called for a lot of canned ingredients. I have made an agreement with my neighbor who owns a Big Green Egg. He will let me use it as long as I share what I cook. Its a true win win deal. If you are looking for healthy choices that tastes much better than traditionally grilled foods, start here.

I love cooking BBQ's outdoors with friends and a few beers.This book is a complete smoker and grill guide; from the various types on the market, the benefits of owing one as well as the draw backs.The recipes is what I was after the most and I was delighted to see many veggie recipes in this book! It also has every kind of meat from beef, chicken, turkey, pork and many seafood recipes. It even has some great ideas for dessert too!

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who owns or intends to buy a Kamado grill. The book provides a few tips which will help you use the Kamado grill simply and effectively, but most importantly, it contains a huge collection of recipes with clear instructions and easily accessible ingredients.

If you're looking for recipes, this is a decent buy because it's mostly recipes. I would have preferred that it include an in-depth discussion of the smoking process.

Mostly recipes, but has some good tips on how to use this product . Probably could get the same information free on the internet, but the author seems quite genuine and clever.
